Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring an active OH or compact license, prior travel experience, and strong neuro ICU background.

Details

  • Neuro ICU setting within a teaching hospital
  • 36 hours per week with day/night shift rotation on a 3x12 hour schedule (Day 7:00-19:30 / Night 19:30-7:30)
  • Every other weekend required, with weekend shifts defined as Friday and Saturday nights
  • Shift rotation pattern updates approximately every 4 weeks based on unit needs
  • Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Utilizes Epic EMR
  • Performs IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with strong Neuro ICU background preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA only)
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skilled in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
  • Experience with EVD, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care
  • Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
  • Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation
  • Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director; charge RN acceptable for the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will be screened prior to consideration
  • Former employees eligible for assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of the health system are not eligible for travel assignments at this facility
  • RTO must be submitted with the contract and built in, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing due to strict state requirements
  • Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an in-state fingerprinting location soon after booking
  • Candidates at greater distances will receive a fingerprinting packet by mail to complete urgently upon receipt
