Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Critical Care Float Pool RN for a teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • floating across multiple ICU units based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs, Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU/MICU/NCCU
  • Float assignments limited to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, totaling 36 hours per week
  • Weekend night coverage required (Friday/Saturday) plus one additional night shift
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Cares for critically ill patients requiring ventilator management, telemetry, and IV therapy

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Required skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management
  • Additional skills include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director and the second from a charge RN; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across a variety of ICU settings based on daily staffing needs and patient acuity
  • Manage complex patients including those with multisystem organ dysfunction, cardiac drips, and neurological monitoring needs such as EVDs and ICP monitoring
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • Administer IV insulin protocols and manage isolation precautions and infection prevention practices
  • Former employees eligible for assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are not eligible for travel assignments at this location
  • Locals accepted at the same pay rate
  • RTO must be submitted with the contract and is limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • First-time travelers may be considered given required ICU and teaching hospital experience
