Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of recent MS/Tele experience and a Missouri or compact RN license.

Details

• MS/Tele unit with a general intermediate patient population
• Average daily census of 29 with 30 beds
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
• Weekend requirement of 4-6 shifts every 6 weeks
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within service line and to sister facilities as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Charts using Epic
• Patient population includes sepsis/infection, wounds, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, SI, general post-op, ortho, urology, and GI bleed cases
• Facility includes 18 PACU bays and 16 pre-op bays with monthly census of 450-550 surgical patients and 130-180 GI patients

Requirements

• Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Both Kansas and Missouri or compact license required in hand due to potential floating between departments, units, and facilities
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent MS/Tele experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
• Community hospital experience required
• Preferred experience with Epic charting system
• Skills required include IV therapy, central/peripheral/PICC line care, blood product administration, telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, PCA, chest tube management, HFNC/nasal cannula oxygen administration, tracheostomy care, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills include arterial line access, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and cardiac catheterization care
• 2 professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from the past year

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a general intermediate care patient population with cardiac, neuro, ortho, and GI conditions
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient management
• Navy scrub color required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all RTO requests finalized at time of consideration
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers will be considered, with preference given to candidates with prior travel experience
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service if previously employed for 18 months, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Facility may offer the position without an interview, though interviews can be accommodated upon request
