Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift PCU role requiring 2+ years of community hospital experience and both Kansas/Missouri or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Community hospital PCU/MS-Tele unit position with 240 staffed beds
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • 8 weekend shifts required within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting completed in EPIC
  • Cares for patients with AMI, cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure, chest pain, vascular/PVD, sepsis/infection, pneumonia, ETOH withdrawal, SI, GI bleed, and pre/post cath needs
  • Utilizes telemetry monitoring equipment
  • Manages femoral line and groin site care for pre/post cath patients

Requirements

  • Active RN license required; must hold both Kansas and Missouri licenses or a compact license at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS and CPI preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Previous charge RN experience preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
  • Experienced in IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and starting IVs
  • Respiratory skills required including chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), heparin protocols, and PCA
  • Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience with feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure care
  • Preferred skills include sheath removal, port accessing, phlebotomy, and total joint replacement care
  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
  • Travel experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive PCU-level care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response team utilization
  • Navy scrub color required

  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted
  • Returning staff must have a minimum 18-month tenure gap with a 3-month break in service
  • Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Facility may extend an offer without an interview, though interviews can be accommodated if requested
