Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit position requiring 2 years of recent specialty experience and Missouri or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
  • General intermediate patient population including sepsis/infection, wounds, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, SI, general post-op, ortho, urology, and GI bleed cases
  • Average daily census of 29 with 30 beds
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • Weekend requirement of 4-6 shifts every 6 weeks
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within service line and to sister facilities as needed
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Patient ratio of 1:5

Requirements

  • Active RN license - both Kansas and Missouri or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Skills required include telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, feeding tube care, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV therapy, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), PCA, surgical drain care, chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor or above and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care to a general intermediate care population including cardiac, neurological, GI, orthopedic, and post-surgical patients
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days
  • Candidates with prior permanent employment at BJC or Saint Luke's facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Previous travelers with 18+ months tenure must have a 3-month break in service before returning
  • First-time travelers accepted, though prior travel experience is preferred
  • No travel partners accepted
