Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a cancer hospital oncology unit requiring 2+ years of current acute care experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Med/Surg Oncology unit within a cancer hospital setting
  • Patients admitted for continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration, soft tissue malignancy treatment, and symptom management
  • Patient population includes those receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and management of comorbidities
  • Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Rotating 12-hour day/night or straight night shifts (3x12 Hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Acute care experience must be current and within the specialty applied for, with consistent work in the last 12 months
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program

  • Additional skills: IV therapy/phlebotomy, chemotherapy administration, tracheostomy care/management, telemetry monitoring, PCA medication management, and insulin drip titration
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide oncology-focused med/surg telemetry nursing care including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Prior travel experience preferred, though first-time travelers with willingness to learn are welcome
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to urgent credentialing timelines
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel positions
  • RTO must be submitted with application and built into contract, limited to 7 days or less
