Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology Telemetry unit requiring 2+ years of current acute care experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Med/Surg Oncology unit within a cancer hospital setting
• Patients require continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
• Cares for patients with soft tissue malignancies receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
• Manages symptom control related to disease progression or treatment, along with comorbidities
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 12-hour rotating shifts that may include days, nights, or a combination based on department needs
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, though changes are not guaranteed
• Float required to units of equivalent or lower acuity

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care RN experience required, consistently within the last 12 months and specific to the specialty applied for
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience accessing and managing ports
• Arterial line management experience
• Blood product administration experience
• Central line and PICC line care/management experience
• IV start and maintenance skills required
• Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management experience
• ABG interpretation skills required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Oncology and chemotherapy administration experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous travel experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for an oncology population with complex medical needs including cardiac monitoring and symptom management
• First-time travelers are welcome, with an emphasis on willingness to learn and grow clinical practice
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference, but coworker references are not accepted
• Former employees eligible to return as travelers after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed urgently after signing the contract, with candidates outside the state required to travel to a fingerprinting location or complete a mailed packet as instructed by the credentialing team
