Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a high-acuity oncology unit requiring 2 years of inpatient nursing experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Mixed acuity PCU/Med-Surg Tele unit caring for medical oncology patients, with approximately 24 PCU beds and 24 MS Tele beds
• Rotating 12-hour Day/Night contract (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30), with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
• High acuity patient population with a variety of diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to some blood cancers
• Rare pediatric patients may be present on the unit but are typically cared for by permanent staff
• Staffing ratios target 1:4-5 but may vary based on unit needs
• Weekend shift requirements are variable
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation equipment
• Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient nursing experience required
• Acute care experience must be current and within the specialty being applied for, with consistent work in the last 12 months
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Chemotherapy competence not required, with training available for interested candidates
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code team protocols required
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted
