Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a cancer hospital requiring 2+ years of med surg/tele experience and current oncology-specific acute care skills.

Details

• MS/Tele unit within a cancer hospital setting
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients with cancers including endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical cancers
• Unit provides chemotherapy, clinical trials, brachytherapy, and CBI treatments
• Staffing ratios aim for 1:4, adjustable to 1:5 based on unit needs
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00pm-7:30am), with potential for rotating day/night scheduling based on department needs
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; changes not guaranteed
• Weekend requirements are variable based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (Ohio state or compact) in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Tele nursing experience
• Acute care experience must be current and consistent within the last 12 months, in the specialty applied for
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience administering chemotherapy and monitoring for adverse reactions
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, PCA and surgical drain management, and tracheostomy care
• Preferred: Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification
• Preferred: prior oncology nursing experience
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required; at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor, second may be from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to oncology patients, ensuring physical and emotional well-being
• Participate in clinical trials, assisting with data collection and documentation
• Perform specialized procedures including brachytherapy and neobladder care
• Implement infection prevention protocols and fall risk management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize rapid response teams as needed
• Perform feeding tube care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance
• Complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract; requirements vary based on candidate's distance from Ohio
• First-time travelers are welcome and encouraged to apply with a willingness to learn and grow
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
