Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring TN or compact license, EPIC experience, and prior night shift telemetry experience.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in stroke and TIA patients along with higher acuity med-surg cases
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
• Unit performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45-07:15
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on nights
• Floating required to other units and campuses based on facility need and staff competencies
• Uses Omnicell medication system and EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Med/Surg Tele or similar unit required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management
• Experience managing respiratory equipment including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care
• Experience with CVA and substance withdrawal patient care
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and managing cardiac drips without titration
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry remote monitoring
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care
• Prior travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for stroke, TIA, and complex med-surg patients in a telemetry monitored setting
• Participate in rapid response and code team activities as needed
• Orientation held weekly on Mondays with annual compliance training required
• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Must be more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible at full travel rate
• Night shift candidates for this specialty must be at least 50 miles from the contracted facility to be eligible, with reduced rates for 50-99.9 miles
