Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring TN or compact RN license and 1+ year of recent unit and Epic EMR experience.

Details

  • MS/Tele unit in a hospital setting caring for step-down patients transitioning from ICU (no vents or pressor support)
  • Patient population includes higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, afib, and post heart cath cases
  • Manages cardiac drips including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotalol initiation (no titration)
  • Telemetry monitoring both on-unit and remote
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
  • Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to change based on need
  • Floating to similar units may be required based on census needs
  • Patient ratio of 1:6

Requirements

  • Active TN or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a similar unit required
  • Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team protocols
  • Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac angiogram/MI care, and pre/post cardiac cath procedures
  • Community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide step-down level nursing care for patients transitioning from ICU
  • Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry patients including dysrhythmia recognition and response
  • Collaborate with rapid response and code teams as needed
  • Weekly orientation held every Monday with annual compliance training required
  • Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
  • First-time travelers will be considered based on experience level
  • Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible, with reduced rates for those 90-99.9 miles away
  • Night shift travelers in this specialty must live at least 50 miles from the contracted campus, with full rate eligibility starting at 100+ miles
