Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN with CA licensure and Trauma Level II experience to float within MS/Tele and MS units.

Details

• Float pool position covering multiple MS/Tele and MS units within scope of practice
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 0700-1930
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, oxygen administration), IV therapy/phlebotomy (central and peripheral lines, PICC management, blood product administration), cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with neurological and psychiatric care including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement
• Experience with renal/dialysis and GI feeding tube management
• Insulin drip titration and IV insulin protocol experience preferred
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

• Provide patient care across multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units as part of a float pool team
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergent patient situations
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request permitted
• Holiday coverage expected for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at local rate
• Returning staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation before reapplying
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
