Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift hospital role requiring 2+ years of RN experience and BLS certification.

Details

• Medical Surgical - Neuro unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes neuro surgical procedures and neuro diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
• Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks accepted
• 12-16 weekend shifts required per contract, with flexibility to discuss
• Floating required within or near the facility
• Uses Pyxis for medication, SBAR for communication, and Epic for charting
• Manager-based scheduling
• May be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required; pending license/certs OK for consideration
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Neuro experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with telemetry, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Skilled in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA management, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years (pending OK at submission, required at start)

Additional Information

• Care for patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions on a Med/Surg-Neuro unit
• 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
• Pre-start modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed prior to start and annually
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO limited to 7 days maximum with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment; no RTO allowed on holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Former Novant Health/New Hanover PERM, PRN, or EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with disclosure of hospital name and employment dates required
