Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift position requiring at least 2 years of cardiac floor experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry / PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:6 varying by acuity
• Patient population includes AFib, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, and carotid stenosis
• Cares for patients following procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, and pacemaker placement
• Uses equipment including arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
• Utilizes Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication systems
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week
• Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks accepted
• Required to work 4 weekends per 4-week period (flexible)
• Floats according to unit rotation but is not first to float
• May be required to support Storm/Hurricane Team response during catastrophic events

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
• First-time travelers considered only with more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Skilled in sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and managing cardiac drips (titration preferred)
• Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge nurse experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac and thoracic surgical and telemetry patients
• Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and post-procedure recovery
• Navy scrubs required
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, conducted weekly
• Pre-start modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed before start and annually thereafter
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units with separate transportation
• Previous Novant Health/New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying and disclose prior employment details
