Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of cardiac floor experience and NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes Afib, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
• Care for patients undergoing procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other cardiac/vascular/thoracic surgeries
• Manage post-cath, post-DCCV, and post-electrophysiology patients, including pacemaker placements
• Patient ratio is 1:6, varying by acuity
• Uses equipment including Dopplers, bladder scanners, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR bands, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
• Documentation via EPIC; medication management via Pyxis; SBAR used for communication
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week
• 13-26 week contract lengths accepted
• Weekend requirement of 4 per 4 weeks, flexible
• Floating required per unit rotation, but not first to float

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license/certs OK at submission
• Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Skills required: cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, sheath removal, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac cath care, non-titrating and titrating cardiac drips, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), external CPAP/BIPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge nurse experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references acceptable at submission)
• First-time travelers not accepted unless they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac and thoracic surgical and medical patients, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, with weekly orientation schedule
• Navy scrubs required
• Must be willing to work a Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations if assigned
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment; additional RTO requires facility approval and cannot be requested after signing
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and must disclose prior employment details, subject to facility approval
• Pre-start modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed prior to start and annually
