Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Neuro unit requiring 2+ years of experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit specializing in Neuro Surgical procedures and Neuro diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
• 36 or 48 hours per week schedule options
• 13-26 week contract lengths accepted
• Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract, with some flexibility
• Floating required
• Uses Pyxis for medication management, SBAR for communication, and Epic for documentation
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license accepted at submission
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Neuro experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA management, telemetry, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, and peripheral IV therapy/phlebotomy required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references OK at submission)

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical nursing care to neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients
• Complete 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• Complete required pre-start and annual online training modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO limited to 7 days maximum, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment; no RTO permitted during major holidays
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose facility name and employment dates
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units with separate transportation
• First-time travelers not required to have prior travel experience
