Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 3x12 day shift position requiring a TX or compact RN license and prior med/surg nursing experience.

Details

• Work on a 19-bed private-room medical surgical unit (3 South)
• Care for a patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients
• Unit prioritizes medical surgical level patients, including those with neurology or neurosurgical diagnoses
• Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of med/surg nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, oxygen administration, and suctioning
• Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgical care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry

Additional Information

• Provide medical surgical level care to a mixed population of medical, surgical, and neuro/neurosurgical patients
• Utilize isolation precautions and PPE per unit protocols
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible
• Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
