Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring prior travel experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Medical-surgical unit with telemetry capabilities focused on vascular disease diagnoses
• Patients range from young adulthood through geriatrics
• Unit includes 12 private and 2 semi-private rooms with a maximum census of 16 patients
• Admissions may include medical-surgical and telemetry overflow patients
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Epic charting system used
• Floating required

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral/PICC line management
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications
• Experience with respiratory care including HFNC, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care preferred
• Wound care and wound vac experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to a diverse adult and geriatric patient population
• Must complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
• Orientation modules completed onsite, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible for this position
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is allowed during the first week of orientation
• All RTO must be submitted for consideration
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
