Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a general neuro unit requiring 2 years of experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a 19-private-room Medical Surgical unit caring for young adult through geriatric patients
• Unit prioritizes patients requiring medical surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care, including medical, surgical, neurology, and neurosurgical diagnoses
• Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of charge nurse experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, oxygen administration, and suctioning preferred
• Experience with neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical and neuro/neurosurgical nursing care using telemetry and oximetry monitoring
• Complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
• Complete onsite orientation modules (average 4-6 hours for RNs)
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered
• Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application; no more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups will not be considered
