Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a float pool position requiring an active MA RN license and Level I trauma experience.

Details

• Float pool position supporting 15 medical surgical units in a 600-bed facility
• Specialties include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, GYN, GU, hips and joints, oncology, and transplant (liver, kidney, vascular)
• Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Unit assignments typically last 2-3 weeks, with some shift assignments given as little as 2 hours before shift start
• 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights), with some 8-hour shifts mixed in during a 4-week schedule
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts required
• No on-call responsibilities
• RT manages ventilators; RN responsible for administering nebulizers
• Performs 12-lead EKGs, lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 3+ years of related RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate web-based applications

Additional Information

• Assigned to the medical surgical float pool, floating across units as needed
• Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays
• Must complete Tele/ECG and Medication competency testing (pass/fail) for certain campuses
• Required vaccinations include COVID-19 (with booster) and Flu, with medical exemptions allowed
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Public transportation available; parking may cost up to $43/day for those working day shifts
• Maximum of 3 days RTO allowed; no RTO approved during holidays
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• Previous BILH employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must complete a 6-month break before returning to any BILH facility
• First-time travelers are not considered due to prior travel experience requirement
