Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units, requiring an active MA RN license and Level I trauma experience.

Details

  • Float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units within a 600-bed facility
  • Specialties covered include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gyn, gu, hips and joints, oncology, and transplant liver/kidney/vascular care
  • Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
  • Unit assignments typically last 2-3 weeks, with some assignments given as little as 2 hours before shift start
  • 12-hour rotating shifts including days and nights, with some 8-hour shifts mixed into the schedule
  • Every other weekend and major winter holidays required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Performs unit-specific procedures including 12-lead EKGs, Lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
  • RNs administer nebulizers while RTs manage ventilators
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certification through AHA required
  • Minimum 3+ years of related RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Level I trauma center experience required
  • Teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate web-based applications
  • Must provide proof of flu vaccination during flu season, and COVID vaccine plus booster (medical exemptions allowed)

Additional Information

  • Assigned to a medical-surgical float pool covering a wide range of specialty units
  • Weekly orientation occurs every Monday, barring holidays
  • Any color scrubs permitted
  • Must pass Tele/ECG and Medication competency tests
  • Must be separated from BILH for 6+ months to be considered for this assignment
  • Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted for this role
  • RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration
  • Public transportation is available, and daily parking can cost up to $43 if working day shifts
