Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a Level 3 Trauma hospital, requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
  • Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
  • RN patient ratio is 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • Possibility of low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights
  • Floating required within Region 3, including Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH), as needed within scope of practice
  • Unit supported by CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Telemetry monitoring/tech support available
  • Unit uses virtual nursing technology (VNO) with 10 cameras for med witnessing, monitoring, and admission/discharge assistance
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Tele unit including cardiac monitoring and wound/drain management
  • Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center designation

  • Travelers required to work 75% of holidays

  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
