Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN - Med/Surg Tele for a Level 3 Trauma hospital, requiring NC or compact RN licensure and at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience.

Details

  • Med/Surgical Telemetry unit with 32 beds and an average daily census of 32
  • Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (Flu/Pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
  • RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
  • 12hr Night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • Possibility of low census call, with call back up to 3a for Nights and 3p for Days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Unit equipped with Virtual Nursing Observation (VNO) technology with 10 cameras to assist with med witnessing, monitoring, and admission/discharge tasks

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Core Med/Tele skills required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

  • Support staff includes CNAs for ADLs, mobility, and feeding, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Telemetry monitoring support available via dedicated monitor techs
  • Facility is a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
  • Two days of departmental orientation provided in addition to NEO
  • Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 RTO days approved excluding holidays, with contract extension required if hours are not met
  • Navy scrub color required
