Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift Observation unit position requiring Illinois RN licensure and at least three years of relevant nursing experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Observation unit within a Med/Surg service line
• 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts, 3 days per week
• Up to every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage on scheduled rotation, up to every other holiday
• Floating to similar units required
• Fast-paced environment focused on quick admission/discharge for Observation status patients
• EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum three years of relevant nursing experience
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Level 1 Trauma center experience required
• EPIC EMR charting experience required
• Skilled in pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, fall precautions, and patient ambulation safety
• Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills
• Experience with medication administration, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including assessments, care planning, medication administration, and patient education
• Receive bedside shift report and validate safe patient room environment at start of shift
• Delegate and oversee tasks completed by Health Care Technicians (HCTs)
• Maintain up-to-date documentation meeting Med/Surg RN standards
• Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards
• Facilitate timely patient testing and discharge coordination for Observation patients
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused unit culture
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rate
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Travel agency partnerships not accepted for this position
