Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Ortho RN for a float pool night shift position requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience.

Details

  • Float pool position within the Med/Surg Ortho unit of a Level 1 Trauma hospital
  • Cares for orthopedic and medical/surgical patients
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week (36 hours)
  • Requires 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Floats to similar units as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting

Requirements

  • Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
  • ASN required, BSN preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Skilled in traction setup, surgical traction device manipulation, and wound appliance management (wound vacs, drains, pouches, urological devices)

Additional Information

  • Perform ongoing assessments of ortho and med/surg patients each shift
  • Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
  • Coordinate care with physicians and surgeons
  • Delegate and monitor interventions performed by HCT staff
  • Set up and manage orthopedic traction devices for mobility and wound care
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (no local candidates)
  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days within the 13-week contract
  • Contingent workers may not be on assignment for more than 1 year continuously; a 6-month break in service is required before returning
