Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg unit in a Level 1 trauma center, requiring travel experience and prior experience in a large hospital setting.

Details

  • 32-bed medical-surgical unit with all single rooms in an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
  • Uses EPIC EMR, OmniCell, Philips Care Monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, Language Line, and Zebra phones
  • 12-hour shifts on a day/night rotating schedule with every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Schedule cycles may rotate between days and nights depending on unit needs
  • Self-scheduling available, though shifts may be adjusted to balance unit staffing needs
  • May be required to float to other med-surg units within the health system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (ND or Compact) required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA) required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
  • Experience in a busy Level 1 trauma center required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of a variety of disease processes
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care to adult patients on a medical-surgical unit, including head-to-toe and focused assessments, medication administration, and care coordination with the interdisciplinary team
  • Communicate plan of care updates to patients and families and advocate for patient needs
  • Document all patient care thoroughly
  • Orientation includes 8 hours of classroom training in the LEAD Center followed by 24 hours of unit-based training
  • Must badge in and out at the facility
  • Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue
  • Willingness to float to all units/locations within the Fargo area as needed
  • Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
  • Candidates residing 60-80 miles from the facility are considered local and receive a reduced pay rate
  • Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
