Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring ND or compact licensure and prior float pool or med/surg experience in a Level 1 trauma center.

Details

  • Acute care Med Surg Resource Team/Float Pool position within a Level 1 trauma center
  • Floats across all med-surg units on Broadway, SMCF, and South University campuses, including med-surg overflow spaces and med-surg status patients within critical care units
  • Med-surg specialty units include oncology, general med-surg, trauma med-surg, cardiac, neuro, observation, medical behavioral, and innovations
  • Units range from 24-47 beds depending on assignment
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 from 7a-11p and 1:5-6 from 11p-7a
  • 12-hour shifts on a day/night rotation with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Staff call in daily to learn their assigned unit for that shift
  • Uses Epic EMR, Accudose Rx, Alaris IV pumps, and Philips vitals machines

Requirements

  • Active ND or compact state RN license
  • Minimum 1 year recent Med Surg experience in a large hospital with 200+ beds
  • Float pool experience preferred
  • Experience working in a Level 2 or higher trauma center required
  • Experience in a fast-paced hospital with 250+ beds
  • BLS certification (AHA) and NIHSS certification required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must be willing to float within the Med Surg cluster and between campuses in Fargo

Additional Information

  • Perform head-to-toe assessments, medication administration via multiple routes, care plan formulation and documentation, and wound/line/drain care
  • Orientation includes one full shift on a Broadway med-surg unit and one full shift on a SMCF med-surg unit, plus team expectations and campus tours during the first week
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Candidates must badge in and out at the facility
  • Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
  • First-time travelers will only be considered if their primary experience is in resource pool or float pool
  • Candidates who previously worked for this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
  • Local candidates may be considered, though rates may be adjusted for those residing within 80 miles of the facility
