Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry/Intermediate Care position requiring compact or WI RN licensure and cardiac, oncology, vent, and transplant experience.

Details

  • Work in the IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care unit (D6/5) and IMC Thoracic unit (B4/3) at a teaching hospital
  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00pm-7:30am, Monday through Friday
  • Day/Evening shift option available, 12-hour shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm, Monday through Friday
  • Every other weekend and some holidays required
  • Floating required as needed across units
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Telemetry, oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown patient population

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only) required
  • Minimum 2 years acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
  • Epic EMR experience required, within past 12 months preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Ventilator and transplant experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, arterial line management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
  • Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and oxygen administration
  • Cardiac monitoring skills required including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with heparin protocols, PCA, and vasoactive drip titration required
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration required
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac cath and pre/post cardiac surgery care required
  • Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management required
  • Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience required
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting the assignment

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry and intermediate care nursing to a cardiac, oncology, and progressive care patient population
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Telemetry competency exam required with 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and 80% or higher overall passing score for both adult and pediatric exams
  • Up to two exam attempts allowed; a third attempt requires completion of a cardiac interpretation review course
  • Facility is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital and referral center
