Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with recent ECMO experience and a CA RN license for a float pool position at an academic medical center in San Francisco.

Details

  • Float pool position covering ICUs, TCUs, ED, and PACU across the health system, not unit-based
  • CVICU/CTICU/CCU setting caring for complex critical care and cardiovascular patients
  • 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30), 3x12 per week
  • Schedule cycles run 4 weeks and may alternate between day and night shifts based on need
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Required to float to other facilities and departments within the health system, including a 75+ mile radius
  • Uses Epic EMR (experience preferred)
  • Cares for patients requiring ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and Pulmonary Artery Catheters

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license in hand
  • BSN required
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience
  • ECMO experience required within the last 6 months to 1 year, including bedside management as primary responsibility without dedicated perfusion support
  • CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Travel nursing experience required, with a completed travel assignment within the past 12 months (1 year or less of travel experience within the past 5 years)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to independently manage complex critical care patients
  • Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, VADs, heart/lung transplant recovery, and cardiogenic shock management strongly preferred
  • Academic medical center experience and simultaneous management of multiple support devices (e.g., ECMO + CRRT) highly desirable
  • 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide advanced critical care to complex cardiovascular, transplant, and multi-organ support patients within an ICC care model
  • May be reassigned to different departments, units, or facilities at any time during the assignment based on qualifications and need
  • All employment history with any University of California medical facility or its acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
  • All requested RTO must be submitted at time of offer and approved by the manager; no additional RTO requests will be accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
  • Travel pairs are permitted but generally will not be placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
  • Non-billable training modules must be completed prior to start and annually
