Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position at an academic medical center requiring advanced ECMO and mechanical circulatory support experience.

Details

  • Float pool position covering ICU, TCU, ED, and PACU across multiple UCSF facilities and departments
  • Cares for critically ill patients requiring advanced cardiovascular and multi-organ support therapies
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts on a 3x12 schedule (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
  • Shift may rotate between day and night depending on the 4-week schedule cycle
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Floating required to other UCSF facilities and departments, including reassignment within a 75+ mile radius as needed

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • BSN required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required
  • CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
  • ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required, including bedside RN management of ECMO patients without dedicated perfusion support
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Teaching hospital/academic medical center experience preferred
  • Recent travel nursing experience required, with a completed assignment within the past 12 months and no more than 1 year of travel experience in the past 5 years
  • Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, and ventricular assist devices strongly preferred
  • Experience with heart failure/cardiogenic shock, pulmonary artery catheters, and cardiothoracic/heart/lung transplant recovery strongly preferred
  • Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration

  • Function within an integrated critical care (ICC) model supporting cardiovascular, transplant, and multi-organ support patient populations
  • Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of offer and approved by the manager; no additional RTO requests will be accepted mid-contract and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Travel pairs are permitted but generally will not be placed on the same unit
