Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with advanced mechanical circulatory support and ECMO experience for a float pool position at an academic medical center.

Details

  • Float pool position covering ICU, TCU, ED, and PACU departments across UCSF facilities
  • Rotating 12-hour Day (7:00-19:30) and Night (19:00-7:30) shifts
  • Schedule cycles run 4 weeks, alternating between day and night shifts based on need
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • CVICU/CTICU/CCU patient population including cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant recovery, and bridge to transplant cases
  • Care for complex critical care patients requiring ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and PA Catheter management
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Floating required to other UCSF facilities and departments within a 75+ mile radius

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • BSN required
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required
  • ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required
  • Bedside RN experience caring for ECMO patients without dedicated perfusion support required
  • Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Teaching hospital/academic medical center experience preferred
  • Travel nursing experience of 1 year or less within the past 5 years required, including a completed travel assignment within the past 12 months
  • 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration
  • Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, and Ventricular Assist Devices strongly preferred
  • Experience with heart failure/cardiogenic shock, pulmonary artery catheters, and prostacyclin therapies strongly preferred
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous support devices (e.g. ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP) highly desirable

  • Provide advanced critical care to patients requiring mechanical circulatory support and multi-organ support therapies
  • Function within an integrated critical care (ICC) care model supporting cardiovascular, transplant, and mechanical circulatory support populations
  • Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for a rehire eligibility check
  • Travel pairs are permitted but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work on the same unit
  • All requested RTO must be submitted and approved by the manager at time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract
  • RTO may not fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate as traveling candidates
