Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU Float Pool position requiring a CA RN license, BSN, and recent hands-on ECMO experience at bedside.

Details

  • Float pool position covering CVICU, CTICU, CCU, TCUs, ICUs, ED, and PACU as needed
  • Cares for complex critical care patients including those on ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, and CRRT
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
  • Schedule may rotate between day and night shifts on a 4-week cycle basis
  • Required to float to other UCSF facilities and departments, including within a 75+ mile radius
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • BSN required
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 4 years recent ICU experience required
  • Recent travel nursing experience within the past 12 months and 1 year or less of travel experience in the past 5 years required
  • ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required as a bedside RN
  • Experience managing ECMO patients without dedicated bedside perfusion support required
  • CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, and ventricular assist devices strongly preferred
  • Experience with heart/lung transplant recovery, cardiothoracic surgery recovery, and cardiogenic shock strongly preferred
  • Academic medical center experience highly desirable
  • Experience simultaneously managing multiple support devices (e.g. ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP) highly desirable
  • Two references from most recent employer required for consideration

  • Provide advanced critical care to patients requiring mechanical circulatory support and multi-organ support therapies
  • Assessed based on ability to function within the ICC care model, considering ECMO experience as one component of a broader cardiovascular and transplant critical care skill set
  • Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with employment history, including dates worked, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of offer and approved by the manager; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract
  • RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travel candidates
  • Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
