Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Join a 13-week travel RN assignment in Columbus, Ohio, providing emergency and progressive-care nursing in a 32-bed emergency observation unit. Bring your emergency department, telemetry, PCU, and stepdown expertise to a fast-paced observation setting serving pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Travel Registered Nurse Job Details

Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience
  • Recent emergency department experience required and clearly documented in work history
  • Experience in emergency observation or holding, medical-surgical telemetry, progressive care unit (PCU), or stepdown nursing required
  • Active compact or Ohio Registered Nurse license in hand at the time of submission
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications
  • Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
  • Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
  • Two professional references required, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
  • Ability to complete required credentialing and fingerprinting promptly before the assignment start date

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in an emergency observation and holding environment
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias, escalating changes in patient condition appropriately
  • Care for patients requiring PCU, stepdown, and intermediate-level monitoring
  • Administer and manage IV insulin, heparin, cardiac, and vasoactive medication protocols, including titration when indicated
  • Manage patients with renal failure, cardiac conditions, neurological disorders, traumatic injuries, and other complex acute-care needs
  • Perform or assist with IV starts, central and peripheral line care, PICC management, blood product administration, wound care, wound-vac care, and surgical drain management
  • Provide tracheostomy care, non-invasive airway management, oxygen therapy, and care for ventilated patients as assigned
  • Assess and manage patients receiving procedural sedation, PCA therapy, and other specialized treatments
  • Recognize clinical deterioration and activate rapid response or code team resources when necessary
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in Epic while collaborating with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rehabilitation, and other support disciplines
