ER RN Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience
  • Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required
  • Experience in a Level I Trauma Center, stroke-certified, and STEMI-certified facility preferred
  • Comfortable managing triage, dysrhythmia interpretation, emergency medications, procedural sedation, ventilated patients, trauma, psych holds, and pediatric emergency care
  • Ability to work with adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patient populations
  • ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing education required
  • Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager, director, supervisor, or charge RN

Emergency Department Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality emergency nursing care in a busy, high-acuity Emergency Department
  • Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting with urgent and emergent conditions
  • Administer emergency medications, manage IV therapy, and support procedural sedation monitoring
  • Interpret dysrhythmias and initiate rapid interventions as needed
  • Care for trauma, stroke, STEMI, psych hold, ventilated, and pediatric patients
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, interpretation services, and support staff
  • Float as needed within the unit's care expectations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow all clinical and compliance standards
