You will be an all-round senior commercial counsel, with a particular emphasis on insurance distribution, policy wordings and commercial contracts.

    Key responsibilities

    • Provide clear, commercial and risk-based legal advice on day-to-day matters and strategic projects.
    • Legal lead on complex, cross-functional matters, coordinating SME input and managing external counsel where required.
    • Act as a senior escalation point within Legal and help embed effective ways of working (playbooks, templates, contracting positions, escalation triggers and matter management) through coaching and knowledge-sharing.
    • Partner with the wider Legal team, Governance/Company Secretarial and other stakeholders to support efficient, well-governed operations within an international group environment and ensure cross-regional matters are handled consistently.

    Policy wordings

    • Review and negotiate policy wordings and related documentation.
    • Support product development and ensure alignment with legal, regulatory and underwriting requirements.
    • Provide legal support in relation to multinational insurance programmes.

    Commercial, distribution and business contracting

    • Advise on a broad range of operational and business services contracts and support strategic partnerships and new initiatives, ensuring proportionate risk allocation and governance.

    Insurance and regulatory support

    • Provide legal input on matters with insurance market/regulatory dimensions (e.g. distribution arrangements, delegated authority, operational resilience and outsourcing expectations).
    • Monitor legal, regulatory and market developments relevant to LSM and support the business in implementing change in partnership with relevant stakeholders.

    Disputes (non-insurance claims) and investigations

    • Support the management of non-claims disputes and contentious matters, including assessing legal risk, developing resolution strategies and managing external counsel as necessary.
    • Support internal investigations and responses to regulatory enquiries.

    Other

    • Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. These requirements include Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest and Whistleblowing.
