  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and continuously train sales team members; monitor individual performance and provide coaching and development.
  • Establish individual and team sales quotas; manage overall departmental goals and ensure accountability at every level.
  • Step in to assist with closings and resolve escalated customer issues with professionalism and urgency.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels—monitoring vehicle mix, volume, and turnover—to maximize customer choice and sales opportunity.
  • Manage the sales department budget responsibly and deliver timely, accurate reports on all sales activities.
  • Partner with other department leaders to ensure a seamless, best-in-class customer experience throughout the buying process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support dealership success.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two years of progressive, relevant experience in a high-volume automotive dealership.
  • Demonstrated sales performance with verifiable proof of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Experience supervising or managing a sales team.
  • Strong business acumen and comfort with data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to remain composed under pressure.
  • Strong leadership, motivational, and organizational abilities; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outgoing, personable, and enthusiastic about working with the public daily.
  • Highly professional, dependable, and accountable.
  • Proficient with standard computer applications and internet tools.

Preferred:

  • Some post-secondary education, coursework, or professional certification in business, sales, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS) and CRM platforms.
