Quality Engineer Project Leader

Success is measured by quality system readiness, validated processes, customer and supplier approvals, stable launch performance, trained site leadership, and a sustainable handoff to the plant team. Working knowledge of customer-specific requirements, customer approval processes, launch containment, quality KPIs, and SAP quality workflows and other system tools, including NCN, DMN, and Turnbacks.

           

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Quality Engineer Project Leader is responsible for leading quality readiness for the successful startup and ongoing operation of a new BAC manufacturing facility. This role leads quality readiness from planning and process validation through launch, ramp-up, stabilization, and transition to the site team. The position partners across functions to ensure BAC standards, customer requirements, supplier readiness, process controls, SAP quality processes, and performance measures are in place while preparing the site quality leader for sustained ownership. 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Lead quality readiness for the greenfield plant from planning and process design through launch, ramp-up, and stabilization. 
• Develop quality procedures, work instructions, and training materials to support workforce readiness and operational startup.
• Establish and validate the site quality management system in alignment with ISO 9001, BAC standards, and applicable customer-specific requirements. 
• Develop and validate quality plans, control plans, inspection systems, measurement methods, and process capability requirements before production launch. 
• Lead supplier quality readiness and coordinate customer approvals to ensure materials, components, and processes meet launch requirements. 
• Develop and execute launch containment plans, monitor early production performance, and resolve quality risks that could affect timing, output, or customer expectations. 
• Define, monitor, and communicate quality KPIs to support startup decisions, corrective action, and continuous improvement. 
• Validate SAP quality processes as well as other quality system tools, including Non-Conforming and Defective Material Notices (NCN and DMN), Turnbacks, and related workflows. 
• Build site quality capability through documentation, training, and hands-on support, then transition validated processes and ownership to the site quality leader. 

NATURE AND SCOPE:

This is a hands-on project leadership role supporting the startup of a greenfield BAC manufacturing facility. The position leads the quality workstream and coordinates resources across Quality, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Systems, suppliers, and project teams. Success is measured by quality system readiness, validated processes, customer and supplier approvals, stable launch performance, trained site leadership, and a sustainable handoff to the plant team. 

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or a related technical field. 
• Demonstrated experience with quality management systems, ISO 9001, process validation, control plans, inspection systems, process capability, and supplier quality in a manufacturing environment. 
• Experience supporting plant startups, new production launches, expansions, transfers, or other complex manufacturing readiness initiatives strongly preferred. 
• Working knowledge of customer-specific requirements, customer approval processes, launch containment, quality KPIs, and SAP quality workflows and other system tools, including NCN, DMN, and Turnbacks. 
• Strong project leadership, problem-solving, communication, and training skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and locations.

BAC Hiring Compensation Range: $90,000-$154100
