We're growing our Test & Integration team in Columbia, MD to support voice communication systems for the Federal Aviation Administration, where reliability matters most. Job Details

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for an experienced, versatile Test Engineer with a strong background in hardware and software system-level testing to join our Test & Integration team in Columbia, MD. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience testing mission-critical and/or Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems, network infrastructure, and radio-telephone communications hardware and software. This person will run and support informal testing, customer acceptance testing and other test activities. They will also work with customers and partners at a technical level on system-level and site-specific requirements and test plans. This role is hybrid, 3 days a week onsite in Columbia, MD.

What You Will Do:

• Design, develop and execute test procedures for hardware and software components
• Apply sound testing principles, including thorough test documentation, test coverage and traceability, and test verification methods
• Perform security, performance and functional testing
• Plan verification strategies and test specifications based on customer, product, software and hardware requirements and use case scenarios
• Manage the test environment for assigned programs, including test scripts and test equipment
• Identify and fully document defects and anomalies, with clear steps to reproduce them
• Review and interpret system and software requirements for testability
• Keep organized records of test results and produce historical analysis
• Communicate technical issues and project status to Test Management, Engineering and stakeholders

What We Require:

• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to pass a background check (Public Trust may be required in the future)
• 5+ years of test-related work experience, including hardware testing
• Hands-on experience testing Air Traffic Management, radio control equipment, VoIP systems and/or advanced networking
• Experience developing internal and deliverable system-level test procedures, preferably for mission-critical equipment in a production environment
• Experience with telecommunications systems and technologies (VoIP, T1, ISDN, POTS, TDM)
• Ability to write clear, concise test plans and procedures from system requirements and to document defects clearly
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
• BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience (3+ years) with IT and telecommunications hardware and software

Preferred:

• Digital and analog telecommunications experience, including VoIP and radio systems
• Test equipment such as oscilloscopes, TIMS, multimeters, Viavi T-BERD, and Sage multi-channel test instruments
• Performance and simulation tools (e.g., VOTER, GL Comm TDM Solutions)
• Familiarity with ED-137, MIL-STD-461G, FCC 47 Part B, FAA-G-2100H, FAA NextGen, DO-278A
• Wireshark, Linux and basic IP networking
• Jira and test management systems such as JAMA
• Agile/Scrum and project life cycle experience
