ABOUT THE POSITION

Clark County Family Services is accepting applications for the Part Time Clerical Assistant position. The Clerical Assistant will perform a variety of clerical duties including, data entry, working at front reception/front desk, customer service, and working with multi-telephone lines.

Clark County Family Services (CCFS) is the local public agency whose role is to help keep children safe. The agency was formed in July 2002 in response to the merger of state and county child welfare services.

Please Note: Part-time employment will not lead to permanent employment. Part-time hourly employees are used to fill positions normally less than twenty (20) hours per week. Part-time employees do not receive benefits.

In order to work at the Department of Family Services, employees must not have any qualifying offense that violates the standards required by NRS 432B.198 and/or NRS 432B.199.

As indicated in NRS 432A.1773, any person hired to work in a licensed childcare facility, who is responsible for the daily operations, administration or management of the childcare facility must be at least 21 years of age.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school and 1 (one) year of full time general clerical experience working in a office setting.

All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work under potentially abusive, hazardous or emergency conditions. May work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C drivers license at the time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Type correspondence, reports, forms and documents related to the unit, to take notes and meeting minutes, knowledge of computer programs including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Visio.
  • Ability to learn the use of other department software as needed, may operate specific software for inputting records or retrieving records as necessary.
  • Proofread and check documents for grammar, spelling and provide edits as necessary.
  • Ability to drive a county car, use office equipment such as printers or copiers, establish and maintain office files (physical files or electronic files).
  • Compile material for meetings or training, performs basic office support tasks including but not limited to retrieving the mail, distributing mail, coordinating meetings or other duties as required.
  • Correct business English including spelling, grammar and punctuation, ability to deal with the public, other departments, or outside stakeholders as necessary in person, over the phone or by email.
  • Enter data accurately and timely with great attention to detail, ability to read and gather data from county documents and summarize or itemize the data.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a Child Welfare setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment, drive a motor vehicle, vision to read printed material, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
