    Department Information

    The Indiana University (IU) Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center (IUSCCC) is the central hub for cancer research and education across IU. It is the states only National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and 1 of only 57 in the nation. The comprehensive designation recognizes the centers excellence in basic, clinical, and population research; outstanding educational activities; and effective community outreach across the state.

    The mission of the Indiana Cancer Consortium (ICC) is to reduce Indianas cancer burden through the coordinated, collective action of its members and the sharing of resources, knowledge, and passion. We work across the entire continuum of care, which consists of 4 focus areas: primary prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship.

    Job Summary

    • Provides program-level support for statewide cancer control initiatives, including coalition engagement, communications, education activities, and data tracking.
    • Responsible for coordinating assigned projects, maintaining records, monitoring timelines, and supporting grant objectives.
    • Works independently within established policies and procedures and does not have responsibility for policy development, budget management, or personnel decisions.

    Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

    EDUCATION

    Required

    • High school diploma or equivalent (such as GED or HSED).

    Preferred

    • 2 years of college coursework.

    WORK EXPERIENCE

    Required

    • 2 years of related work experience.

    Preferred

    • 3 years in nonprofit or public health sectors.

    Required

    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

    • Knowledge of public health, healthcare, nonprofit, coalition, or community-based programs.
    • Ability to engage and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Knowledge of grant writing and reporting.
    • Proficiency with virtual meeting platforms, email marketing systems, website content management systems, and social media platforms.
    • Ability to use audio/visual equipment used for presentations and educational events.

    Working Conditions / Demands

    This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
