**Job Title: OB/GYN Billing Specialist**
**Position Overview:**
We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our OB/GYN practice. The ideal candidate must have direct billing experience in women’s health / OB/GYN and be highly proficient in athenahealth. This role requires strong knowledge of medical billing workflows, insurance follow-up, denial management, payment posting, claims resolution, and patient account management specific to an OB/GYN setting.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Submit clean claims accurately and timely through athenahealth
- Review and resolve claim rejections and denials
- Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid or underpaid claims
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately
- Work aging reports and outstanding AR
- Review patient accounts for billing accuracy and follow-up needs
- Handle billing corrections, resubmissions, and appeals
- Communicate with front desk, clinical staff, and management to resolve billing issues
- Maintain compliance with payer rules and billing regulations
- Help improve collections, reduce denials, and optimize revenue cycle performance
**Required Qualifications:**
- Minimum [5] years of medical billing experience in an OB/GYN practice
- Strong working knowledge of athenahealth
- Experience with:
- Insurance claim submission and follow-up
- Denial management and appeals
- Payment posting
- Patient balances and account review
- Eligibility and benefits verification
- OB/GYN coding and billing workflows
- Understanding of commercial insurance
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding relevant to OB/GYN
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced practice
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience billing for:
- Obstetric global billing
- Gynecologic procedures
- Surgical claims
- Ultrasound and in-office procedures
- Familiarity with prior authorizations, claim edits, and payer-specific billing requirements
- Credentialing or revenue cycle support experience is a plus
