    Maintenance Manager - Automation & Controls

    Location: Syracuse, NY Salary: $100,000–$115,000 + bonus and comprehensive benefits Schedule: On-site

    Our client is a global manufacturing company with a strong presence in the packaging industry. They are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead automation, controls, engineering initiatives, and technical talent at a local manufacturing site.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automation or controls leader who enjoys both the technical and people-management aspects of manufacturing.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead site automation and controls strategy and initiatives
    • Oversee automation systems, controls infrastructure, and manufacturing technologies
    • Manage capital projects from concept through commissioning
    • Drive equipment reliability, uptime, OEE, and downtime improvements
    • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and Supply Chain
    • Lead, coach, and develop engineering, automation, maintenance, and technical staff
    • Identify opportunities for new technology and continuous improvement
    • Establish technical standards, documentation, and best practices
    • Support employee development, training, cross-training, and succession planning

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related technical field
    • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering, automation, controls, or technical leadership experience
    • 3+ years of people leadership experience
    • Strong experience with PLCs, HMI/SCADA, industrial networks, and manufacturing controls
    • Experience managing capital projects and cross-functional initiatives
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing reliability and continuous improvement
    • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills

    Preferred: Experience in packaging, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment, along with Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or Operational Excellence experience.
