Billing Specialist

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid Opportunity)

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 + Comprehensive Benefits

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a dynamic and rapidly growing Chicago law firm to identify a Billing Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal billing professional who enjoys working collaboratively with attorneys, finance teams, and firm leadership in a sophisticated, fast-paced legal environment.

The ideal candidate will have law firm billing experience, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to supporting billing operations, client intake, and other finance-related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute monthly client invoices to billing attorneys for review and approval.

  • Ensure timely and accurate billing in accordance with firm policies and client guidelines.

  • Revise, finalize, and distribute invoices based on attorney feedback.

  • Support attorneys throughout the complete billing and collections lifecycle.

  • Assist with new client intake processes, including conflict checks and data collection.

  • Draft, edit, and coordinate client engagement letters.

  • Maintain accurate client and matter records within firm systems.

  • Collaborate with attorneys, finance, and operations teams to ensure exceptional service and efficiency.

  • Assist with special projects and provide support for additional finance and operational initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of billing experience within a law firm or professional services environment.

  • Experience managing billing workflows, invoice processing, and attorney billing support.

  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional accuracy and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

  • Strong customer-service orientation and collaborative approach.

Preferred:

  • Experience with legal billing systems and time-entry platforms.

  • Familiarity with a variety of client e-billing portals and electronic billing platforms.

  • Experience supporting attorney billing and collections processes within a law firm setting.
