A bit about us:

Our client is a Boston-based construction management and general contracting firm with decades of experience delivering complex projects throughout New England and the Eastern United States.

Their portfolio spans multi-family and luxury residential, commercial and office, hospitality, retail, restaurants, academic institutions, assisted living, historic renovations, and mill rehabilitations. Their projects range from high-end residential developments to large-scale multi-unit buildings and complex adaptive-reuse projects.

The company takes a collaborative approach to construction, becoming involved early in the process to help owners and design teams develop realistic budgets, identify potential issues, and create workable project plans before construction begins.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to join an established Boston construction company where project management is more than paperwork.

The APM will work alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents and have exposure to projects from preconstruction through closeout. Because the company is heavily involved during the preconstruction phase, you'll have the opportunity to learn not only how projects are built, but how they are planned, budgeted, and successfully executed.

You'll also gain experience across a diverse project portfolio, including luxury residential, multifamily, hospitality, commercial, historic renovation, and adaptive-reuse projects.

For someone looking to build a long-term career in construction and eventually move into a Project Manager role, this is an opportunity to develop that skill set while working on some of the more complex projects in the Boston market.

Job Details

The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, owners, and other project stakeholders to support the successful delivery of construction projects.

The APM will be involved in the administrative, financial, and operational sides of the project and will have the opportunity to take ownership of increasingly complex responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day management of construction projects
Support projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout
Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, engineers, consultants, vendors, and owners
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and other project documentation

Assist with subcontractor procurement and contract administration
Monitor project schedules and track key milestones
Participate in project, owner, and subcontractor meetings
Maintain meeting minutes and follow up on outstanding action items
Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams
Help identify potential scheduling, budget, and constructability issues
Assist with developing solutions to project challenges
Maintain organized project documentation throughout construction
Assist with owner communication and project reporting
Support punch-list, turnover, and closeout activities
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
2+ years of commercial construction experience
Experience with commercial, multifamily, luxury residential, hospitality, institutional, or renovation projects
Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Experience coordinating with subcontractors and vendors
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred
Ability to work effectively with both field and office teams
Valid driver's license

This is a strong opportunity for an APM who wants to learn from experienced construction professionals, get involved in the full project lifecycle, and build the experience necessary to become a Project Manager. If you're looking for a role where you'll actually be trusted with responsibility and exposed to the business side of construction, this is worth a conversation.
