    The Athletic Training Department in Boston University''s Student Health Services is recruiting an Administrative Coordinator to join our collaborative team of healthcare providers. Our department provides athletic training services to students who participate in varsity sports, university-sponsored club sports, and Military Education''s Reserve Officer Training Corps.

    Athletic Training is one of five departments within Student Health Services, which also includes Primary Care, Counseling & Psychiatric Services, Survivor Advocacy, Response & Prevention, and Health Promotion & Prevention. We share an electronic medical record among the departments. Our department includes a robust team of athletic trainers, a physician medical director, several team physicians, and dedicated administrative support professionals who work collaboratively to coordinate care.     The primary responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant are to:

    • Manage departmental operations, communications, and administrative processes.
    • Support patient services through referral management, scheduling, insurance authorization processes, and communication with internal and external healthcare providers.
    • Manage administrative planning and logistics for meetings, events, recruitment activities, onboarding processes, and departmental projects.
    • Maintain departmental records, databases, calendars, compliance documentation, and operational tracking systems.
    • Support financial, purchasing, inventory, and resource management activities.
    • Serve as a liaison among patients, healthcare providers, university departments, vendors, and community partners.
    • Assist with departmental quality assurance, compliance, and reporting activities.
    • Supervise and train work-study and student employees, including assigning work, providing direction, evaluating performance, and addressing performance concerns.
    • Support the delivery of efficient, patient-centered healthcare services for the populations served by the Athletic Training Department.

    Required Skills

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor''s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Three to five years of progressively responsible administrative, healthcare, higher education, or related experience.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in healthcare, higher education, athletics, or student services.
    • Experience managing healthcare referrals, insurance authorizations, or patient services.
    • Experience managing schedules, events, or complex administrative processes.
    • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and healthcare compliance requirements.
    • Experience supervising student employees.
