Seeking an accountant with general ledger and taxation experience.  Use of Ultratax software would be a plus. This is NOT simply a data entry position.  Must be able to analyze and correct client books and understand both personal and business taxation. This position requires client contact and attention to detail. Must be able to analyze and correct client provided information.   Candidates should be able to complete tasks from start to finish for accounting and tax returns.

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in both accounting and tax. This role requires proficiency in preparation of tax return and of spreadsheets and Microsoft Office applications, along with strong customer service skills. The Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial data and of our tax and accounting operations.

Responsibilities

Prepare tax returns for individuals, small businesses, S corporations and Partenrships

Analyze and correct client prepared General Ledger in both Quickbooks and Quickbooks Online

Recognizing required changes to client books and making the appropriate journal entries

Maintain and update financial records through precise data entry and accounting practices

Prepare and manage spreadsheets to track financial transaction and other relevant data

Utilize Microsoft Office tools to generate reports, analyze financial information, and support administrative tasks

Handle confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism

Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries related to financial records or transactions

Qualifications

Requirements

Ability to prepare tax returns correctly from the point of receiving client data through knowing what questions to ask the client and to correct completion of tax returns for individuals, small businesses, S corporations and Partnerships

Proven experience in tax and accounting roles, with a strong understanding of taxation and accounting principles

Willingness to work extra hours, in excess of 65 hours per week (including weekends), during tax season and as needed. Non-tax season hours are 40 hours per week.

Proficiency in spreadsheets (e.g., Excel) and Microsoft Office applications

Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to handle confidential information responsibly

Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with team members and clients

Experience working with spreadsheets, accounting software, or related tools is required

Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
