This vacancy is located in the Retiree Payroll section of the Accounting Department at TRSL. The Retiree Payroll section is responsible for paying retiree, survivor, ex-spouse and beneficiary monthly benefits. Functions also include processing retiree updates (direct deposit, address changes, federal tax withholdings, benefit adjustments), Pension Benefit Increases (PBI), mailing of retiree 1099R forms, depositing tax payments with the IRS, processing electronic payment returns and stop payments, completing agency tax returns, and numerous reconciliations to the general ledger.
The ideal candidate should possess:
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:
This position is responsible for proper accounting treatment of payments and reimbursements for retirees or their beneficiaries. Duties include monthly retiree payroll processing, member updates, assisting members via phone or person, processing reclaims/reversals, processing miscellaneous out of cycle check processes, etc.

Appointment Type: This vacancy may be filled as a Probation, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty. Current classified permanent status employees may be required to accept a Probational Appointment.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) as follows:
If filled as an Accountant 1 - $1,730.40 bi-weekly
If filled as an Accountant 2 - $1,851.20 bi-weekly
If filled as an Accountant 3 - $2,120.00 bi-weekly
