Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program • Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) • BLS from the American Heart Association (or obtained during orientation) and maintain certification throughout employment • Current state nursing license or permit to practice nursing in the State of Texas • De-escalation training within 90 days of hire; does not require maintaining • Ongoing compliance with demonstration of clinically pertinent competencies as determined by the facility • ACLS within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment • Successful completion of EKG test in department orientation • Critical Care experience, preferred • Physical and Sensory Requirements: • Ability to read and write in English • Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations • Ability to respond to pages • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions • Ability to repeatedly twist, squat and stoop • Bending, lifting (minimum of 25 pounds), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling • Exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals • On call shift coverage as required by department.
