This class is alternately staffed with Maintenance Repair Technician II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after successfully completing a one (1) year probationary period and gaining one (1) additional year of experience, and completion of a combination of job-related training courses and demonstration of basic on-the-job performance proficiency and competency in work areas that may include, but not limited to the installation, maintenance and repair of streets, public right-of-way, City facilities, traffic control devices, traffic signals, streetlights, and parking meters. Under general and direct supervision, performs both routine and skilled heavy, physical work in performing a variety of duties such as installation, maintenance and repair of streets, public right-of-way, City facilities, traffic control devices, traffic signals, streetlights and parking meters; operates trucks and a variety of hand and power tools and equipment related to the work; may work independently using various methods of graffiti abatement and removal; perform related work as assigned.
