The Test Technician will work closely with Test Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Production teams to ensure products meet functional, electrical, and quality requirements. This role involves executing test procedures, analyzing test failures, maintaining test stations, and supporting production testing to achieve high product quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Product Testing and Validation
Perform functional, electrical, and performance testing on electronic products, assemblies, and components according to established test procedures.
Operate automated test equipment (ATE), test fixtures, diagnostic tools, and measurement instruments.
Execute production test procedures and verify that products meet specified performance and quality standards.
Record test results accurately and maintain traceability of tested units.
Support engineering validation, qualification testing, and new product introduction activities.
B. Test Equipment Setup and Maintenance
Set up, configure, and verify test stations, fixtures, cables, instruments, and related testing equipment.
Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of test equipment.
Verify test equipment functionality and calibration status before use.
Identify equipment abnormalities and coordinate repairs or escalations with Test Engineers and equipment support teams.
Assist with test station installation, qualification, and readiness for production.
C. Failure Analysis and Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot failed units using diagnostic tools, test logs, schematics, and technical documentation.
Perform initial failure analysis to identify potential hardware, electrical, software, or test equipment issues.
Distinguish product failures from test station, fixture, connection, or process-related issues.
Document failure symptoms, test results, troubleshooting steps, and findings.
Escalate complex failures to Test Engineers or other engineering teams for further investigation.
Support root-cause analysis and corrective action activities to reduce recurring failures.
D. Production and Quality Support
Provide technical support to production teams to resolve testing issues and minimize production downtime.
Monitor test yield, failure rates, retest rates, and recurring failure patterns.
Support containment activities and product quality investigations when abnormalities occur.
Follow standard operating procedures, engineering specifications, ESD requirements, and applicable quality standards.
Ensure proper handling, identification, and traceability of products throughout the testing process.
E. Documentation and Continuous Improvement
Maintain accurate test records, equipment logs, failure reports, and troubleshooting documentation.
Communicate test results, equipment issues, and production concerns to the engineering team.
Assist in updating test procedures, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
Participate in yield improvement, test optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support engineering experiments, test program verification, and production process improvements.
3. Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent training in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Relevant hands-on testing experience may be considered in place of formal education.
Experience
1–3 years of experience in electronics testing, product validation, test engineering support, or electronics manufacturing preferred.
Experience with automated test equipment, electronic troubleshooting, or production test stations is an advantage.
Entry-level candidates with relevant technical education and strong troubleshooting skills may be considered.
4. Technical Skills
Basic understanding of electronic circuits, components, and electrical measurement principles.
Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other diagnostic instruments.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, test procedures, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
Familiarity with automated test equipment, test fixtures, functional testing, and production test systems.
Basic understanding of troubleshooting methods and root-cause analysis.
Proficiency in documenting test results and using Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with Linux commands, command-line interfaces, test scripts, networking, or hardware diagnostics is a plus.
Familiarity with server, computer, networking, or other complex electronic system testing is an advantage.
